Maeve Fly – C.J. Leede

Book: Maeve Fly
Author: C.J. Leede
Rating: ⭐️3.5/5⭐️

This is not for the faint hearted and definitely check the trigger warnings for this one!

I think the blurb of this one spoils the plot so I think it’s best to go in blind. It is a character driven horror (maybe extreme horror?) book. Perfect for fans of Boy Parts, Black Sheep and Deliver Me.

I thought this had quite a slow start. It took me about 80 pages to really get into it. It was also extremely violent and gory – too much for my tastes! Some of the scenes in this made me feel so so sick 🤢 And just to top it off, the ending was a little unsatisfactory.

This all being said, I’m very hit and miss with character driven stories but I inhaled this and I couldn’t put it down. I did read this while on holiday sitting on a beach so I do wonder if I would have enjoyed this less if I’d be reading it under a normal setting.

Overall, I did enjoy this but I don’t necessarily recommend it!
