Linus Baker leads a very ordinary life, living with his cat and working for The Department in Charge of Magical Youths (DICOMY). His job roll is to check up on magical youths wellbeing in their government-sanctioned orphanages. One day he gets called in by Extremely Upper Management as they have a dangerous and classified assignment for him.

No one and I mean no one is more shocked than me! FOMO caused me to pick this up and not only did this end up being a 5 star read, it makes my top 10 books of all time list.

This may be a fantasy book but there was no world building and the setting was described perfectly!

The story is so so wholesome and the writing was stunning and filled with so many beautiful quotes I sobbed at the end of most of the chapters in this.

I loved each and every one of the main characters so so much, but there are just no words in the world to do my feelings justice.

This book blew me away and I have very high hopes for book 2 which has just been released.
