Book: Nine Lives
Author: Peter Swanson
Rating: ⭐️3.5/5⭐️
Nine Strangers received an envelope containing just a single sheet of paper listing 9 names, including their own. If you’re on the list you’re marked for death and one by one, they all start getting murdered.
Overall I thought this was okay but it didn’t blow me away. I liked the idea of the plot but I found there were way too many characters. There is a list of who is who at the front of the book which was incredibly helpful as I regularly forgot who everybody was!
I found the first half slow as it’s mainly focuses on introducing us to the majority of the main characters with some of their back stories. Don’t get me wrong, the characters were fascinating and I loved their backstory but like I said before, there were just too many!
The second half is much more fast paced and I definitely preferred it. I enjoyed the short punchy chapters and it is a relatively easy read. I thought the main twist was good (although I had a hunch) but the reasoning behind it all was a little silly.
The book makes reference to And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie so I feel I would have benefited from reading that to fully appreciate some parts of the story.

I am loving the yellow on the cover! What colour usually catches your eye when it comes to book covers?
