Home Before Dark – Riley Sager

Book: Home Before Dark
Author: Riley Sager
Rating: ⭐️4/5⭐️

Twenty-Five years ago, Maggie Holt and her parents fled their home, Baneberry Hall after living there for 3 weeks due to a dangerous encounter with a ghost. At the time, Maggie’s father wrote about the whole ordeal in a book. Maggie believes it’s all lies, ghosts don’t exist.

After the death of Maggie’s father, she inherits the house and moves back in order to flip it and sell it for a profit. However, something doesn’t feel right and she starts to wonder if there was any truth in her father’s book.

I don’t often get scared when reading spooky books but this story sent shivers down my spine, I thought it was so creepy and perfect for a spooky season read!

I was so gripped reading this, it was so difficult to put it down. There are loads of clever twists and turns which I did not see coming whatsoever!

The main story chapters alternate with the book written by Maggie’s Dad and I thought this was such a refreshing concept and it was done so well.

There’s something at the start of the story which really annoyed me (I don’t want to say and spoil it) otherwise I’d have scored my rating higher!
