Book: Yule Island
Author: Johana Gustawsson
Rating: ⭐️3.5/5⭐️
“Art expert Emma Lindahl is anxious when she’s asked to appraise the antiques and artefacts in the infamous manor house of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families, on the island of Storholmen, where a young woman was murdered nine years earlier, her killer never found.”
The book is basically what I wanted The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins to be!!! It’s dark, disturbing, gritty, atmospheric with some arty vibes thrown in to the mix.
It was a little slow to begin and I did get a little confused at times. I don’t know if that’s a translation issue, a tiny font size issue or a me problem!
I enjoyed reading this and the more I read, the more and more I enjoyed it.
By the time you get to the second half of the story, you are hit with a tonne of twists. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve come across a book with more twists!
Some twists I did guess, and some where shocking. However, I feel the author used every single possible plot twist imaginable so it’s not shocking that some were guessable!
Please check the trigger warnings before reading this!
